Christ Church, Falkirk is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church, which itself is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Situated in the western reaches of the Diocese of Edinburgh, it serves Episcopalians, Anglicans and people of all faiths or none, living in the town of Falkirk and its surrounding communities.
These communities are extensive, and include Airth, Avonbridge, Bonnybridge, Brightons, California, Carron, Carronshore, Denny, Dunipace, Larbert, Laurieston, New Carron, Polmont, Reddingmuirhead, Slamannan and Stenhousemuir – members of our congregation come from all these areas. The church in Grangemouth is a daughter church of Christ Church and serves that area.
We have a strong core congregation and a reputation for being welcoming and friendly. Our membership is around 130, with a weekly average of nearly 70 communicants.
Our priest is The Rev Ruth Innes.
Local and international links
The church takes a keen interest in matters outside the locale. Our outreach giving is split in half, supporting both local and foreign mission work. Some years ago, the then Rector, Canon David Bruno, forged a link with the future Bishop of Kinkiizi Diocese in Uganda, the Rt Rev John Ntegyereizi. This link was developed by the Rev Canon Duncan McCosh and the church now helps support the medical clinic in the village of Nyakinoni.
The church is active in its links with other churches in Falkirk. Members of other churches were welcomed to the 2010 series of Lenten talks, and most of the Holy Week services were held this year in Christ Church. We participate in the ecumenical services held on the last Sunday evening of each month at Erskine Parish Church in Falkirk.
